How much do you know about Kia? And we at Bald Hill Kia aren't just talking about the new Kia vehicles here at 1021 Bald Hill Road. Rather, we're wondering how well-versed local brand enthusiasts are about the automaker's history.
For those who've just recently hopped on board the Kia train, we're happy to fill you in. For starters, most would be surprised to learn that our favorite maker of stellar vehicles didn't actually start out making autos. Way back in 1944, Kia Motors Corporation lodged its roots in the ground as a manufacturer of bicycle parts.
Closely translated to mean "coming out of Asia," the Kia nameplate didn't produce its first vehicle until 1962 when it put forth the K-360 truck. Moving forward, the automaker went on from trucks to passenger vehicles and finally entered our very own, U.S. market in the early 90's. First on the docket? That would be the Kia Sephia sedan which made its first sale in Portland, Oregon.
Since those early days, which weren't actually all that long ago, Kia has grown and expanded immensely within our walls. Today, a total of eleven Kia vehicles are sold in the United States and the automaker has set down several plants within our market. To keep tabs on the dynamic automaker as it continues to move forward, be sure to leave one eye on our Kia blog and swing by with questions anytime.
