The people at Bald Hill Kia, located at 1021 Bald Hill Road, Warwick RI, 02886 have a huge announcement for all eco-friendly drivers. The Korean auto maker has announced they will only focus their "green car production" on electric vehicles (EV) and leave the hybrid options for their parent company Hyundai.

This may come as a shock to some, after watching the Kia Optima Hybrid complete a historic cross country trip, while setting the Guinness World Record for "Lowest fuel consumption driving through all 48 contiguous U.S. states in a gasoline hybrid car."

"Hyundai intends to focus on hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles and plug-in hybrids, as this seems to be the direction the car market is heading in, especially after 2030," according to Yang Woong-chul, the group's VP, as he stated details of this plan during the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show.1

Kia will manufacture the company's first ever high-speed electric vehicle under a peculiar project name: TAM. We expect to see the vehicles hit the Asian market in the fourth quarter of this year.

Korea's first electric vehicle, named 'BlueOn' which was developed by Kia's research institute in 2010, will also be introduced by the auto maker to the general public by the end of 2011.
