Guide to Jump Start a Car

It is not as hard as you might think to jump start a car on your own. Start with a running car and a set of jumper cables to connect to the batteries. Both car engines should be off when you start to hook up the cables. Match up the positive and negative ends on the live and dead batteries.

Turn the working car engine on as soon as the cables are properly connected. Give the gas pedal a rev for some extra juice to the battery. After at least two minutes, you can try starting the engine of the dead car. You may have to try more than once to get it started, especially if it is drained low. Keep the jumped car running for at least 20 minutes before turning off the engine.

Come to the service center at Bald Hill Kia to have your battery examined if it died.
